Paul McCartney has been hailed a “legend” after recreating the iconic Beatles Abbey Road album cover almost 49 years after the original image was taken.
The 76-year-old Hey Jude singer sent fans into a frenzy after he replicated the famous snap which was shot by photographer Iain MacMillan on August 8, 1969.
Strutting across the historical Abbey Road crossing with a suit jacket over his shoulder, McCartney was met with screams from onlookers desperate to catch a glimpse of the star.
He simply captioned the Instagram video: “@maryamccartney#PaulMcCartney #EgyptStation#AbbeyRoad.”
Fans hailed McCartney a “king” for the “iconic” video which raked in half a million views in the space of a few hours.
One user wrote: “OMG ICONIC I LOVE YOU PAUL.”
Another commented: “YOU GO PAUL, YOU FABULOUS MAN, YOU. YOU LOOK SO GOOD.”

A third posted: “LEGEND.”
Meanwhile others joked that he should re-do the walk without his shoes as he was bare-foot in the original photograph.
One fan commented: “THIS MAKES ME SOOOO HAPPY! And you're wearing shoes this time.”
Another joked: “Love the sandals. Love you too!”
A third said: “Do it again without shoes.”
The video comes after McCartney took a trip down memory lane alongside Late Late Show host James Corden for a Carpool Karaoke. The iconic singer visited his old home and favourite pub where he gave visitors a surprise impromptu performance of Beatles classics.
The pair then drove to Penny Lane, which inspired the song of the same name based on his experiences of growing up in the area, and Sir Paul got out to autograph the famous street sign.
